Schell's Mural
The Walldogs on Nicollet project took place on the weekend of July 24th to the 27th, 2008. Local and national artists came together to paint ten murals on eight sites in four days along Nicollet Avenue from Lake Street to 46th Street in the Lyndale and Kingfield Neighborhoods. The purpose of Walldogs on Nicollet is to harness the energy and talent of the artists, volunteers, and community members to create visually stunning pieces of public art that help create a safe and welcoming environment along the Nicollet corridor. This gift from the artists will provide the neighborhoods with lasting pieces of public art and with a vehicle for harnessing the energy in our community by building connections between the people along the Nicollet corridor. A corridor whose health is vital to the health and safety of both neighborhoods. One of the sites chosen for the project was the Ungerman Construction building, located at 4450 Nicollet Avenue. The building recieved two murals, with the theme being the history of brewing in Minnesota. One of the murals painted on the building was a rendition of the Schell's Deer Brand label from the 1930's. Here are a few photos of the mural as it progressed. Amazing! A huge thank you to the Walldogs on Nicollet project team, Ungerman Construction, Bill Diaz, Sarah Linnes-Robinson, and everyone who helped make this a huge success!
